Hi there, thanks for stopping by! My name is Rebekah Friesen, and I am a certified Spiritual Director. I graduated from the two year program of The School of Spiritual Direction through Sustainable Faith in June of 2021. I also graduated from Bethany College in 2004 with a four year BA in Pastoral Ministries. I have been married for 17 years to my wonderful husband and have two kids.
For many years I have dreamt of becoming a Spiritual Director and using my gifts and experiences to walk with others on their spiritual journeys. I have experienced several miscarriages, infertility, cancer and other difficult situations in my life. My life journey has taken me through some deep and dark valleys, and yet my Good Shepherd Jesus has walked faithfully beside me. I have also benefited greatly from the gift of having a Spiritual Director as a companion along the road. Because of this, I have desired to walk alongside others in this way as well. Spiritual Direction has been a conduit for me to put those passions into practice.
I have lived and worked cross-culturally, and I feel a special connection with people who are heading overseas or returning home. I have a huge heart to work with people experiencing grief or questioning their faith, desiring to grow deeper in their faith/prayer life and learn to recognize the move of the Holy Spirit in their lives. I am open to meet with any age or gender as well. I love to listen to people and desire to be a safe place for people to come and share what is on their heart. We recently moved into a home outside Winnipeg, Manitoba with a beautiful sunroom where we can meet in person, but I am also more than willing to schedule online sessions as well.
One of my favorite scriptures is 2 Corinthians 2:3-4:
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.”
